New Orleans-Home of the Blue Dog Artist

I attended the National ARt Education Association Conference in New ORleans in March. Wandering around the French Quarter with a new friend I met at the Conference, we stumbled up on the Gallery of the Blue Dog artist. The whole place was actually filled with his blue dog paintings. The series of these Blue dog paintings has always fascinated the kids, and I keep one of his books in the art room. Here's Nina's interpretation, the one time she actually painted from direct inspiration of any particular artist. For months after I bought the book, by the way ( and some of you may remember this) the students shouted out the words of the artist, just a few sentences from the book that they found memorable. After a few months, I think I hid the book....

Thank you for putting my red dog picture on your blog! (from Nina)

I have always enjoyed Nina's interpretation. It's framed and hanging in her room. But it sure would be something to see a whole room of red (or blue)dogs! Do you think that the artist ever gets bored with blue dogs???

Hmm.... yes there were walls of blue dogs. I don't think he'll get bored with the blue dog concept unless it caeases to make him $$.
I wonder if he has been able to make use of these images to raise funds for Katrina re-construction?
